Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Swing Media ("Swing Media", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit swingmedia.com (the "Site"), interact with our ads, or contact us. It also explains how we use cookies and advertising technologies, including those provided by Google and LinkedIn, and the choices you have about them.
Information we collect
- Information you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, company, job title and the details you include when you fill in a form, request a proposal or contact us, including any files you choose to upload.
- Information collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser and device type, device identifiers, cookie identifiers, pages viewed, the page that referred you, the ad you clicked to reach the Site, and the actions you take on the Site, gathered through cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies.
- Information from advertising and social platforms, such as whether you clicked or viewed one of our ads and, if you submit a lead form on a platform such as LinkedIn, the details you choose to share through that form.
- Information from other sources, such as business contact details that are publicly available or shared with us by partners.
How we use information
- To respond to inquiries and provide the services you request.
- To communicate with you, including sending updates or marketing you have agreed to receive.
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site.
- To understand how the Site is used.
- To measure the performance of our advertising, for example by counting form submissions that follow a click on one of our ads.
- To show Swing Media ads to people who have visited the Site or interacted with us, on other websites and platforms (remarketing), and to find new audiences similar to them, where permitted by law.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
We and third-party vendors use cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies on the Site. Analytics and advertising cookies stay off until you choose Allow in the cookie pop-up, and you can change your choice at any time with "Cookie preferences" in the Site footer. These technologies include:
- Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site. We use Google Analytics Advertising Features, including Remarketing with Google Analytics and Google Display Network Impression Reporting.
- Google Ads, to measure conversions from our ads and to show our ads to people who have visited the Site.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag and LinkedIn conversion tracking, to measure the performance of our LinkedIn ads, to see aggregated reports about the professional characteristics of Site visitors, and to show our ads on LinkedIn to people who have visited the Site.
Third-party vendors, including Google and LinkedIn, show our ads on sites and apps across the internet. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your past visits to the Site and other websites. We and third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as Google advertising cookies) or other identifiers together to report on, optimize and serve ads based on your past visits to the Site.
When the LinkedIn Insight Tag loads, LinkedIn receives information such as your IP address, device and browser details, the page URL, the referring page and a timestamp. We receive only aggregated reports from LinkedIn that do not identify you. Google and LinkedIn also use this information under their own privacy policies: policies.google.com/privacy and linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Content such as video may be delivered by third-party providers, which receive technical information such as your IP address when it loads.
Contact lists we share with ad platforms
We may upload hashed (encrypted) business contact information, such as the email addresses of people who have contacted us or done business with us, to Google (Customer Match) and LinkedIn (Matched Audiences). The platforms use it to show those people relevant Swing Media ads or to exclude them from our ads, and do not give us information about who was matched. If you do not want your information used this way, contact us using the details below.
Your advertising choices
- Google: adjust or turn off personalized ads at adssettings.google.com (My Ad Center). You can stop Google Analytics from collecting your data with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- LinkedIn: LinkedIn members can manage ad preferences at linkedin.com/psettings/advertising. Visitors who are not LinkedIn members can use LinkedIn's guest controls at linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls.
- Industry opt-outs: you can opt out of interest-based ads from many participating companies at optout.networkadvertising.org (Network Advertising Initiative) and optout.aboutads.info (Digital Advertising Alliance).
- On this Site: choose Reject in the cookie pop-up, or reopen it with "Cookie preferences" in the Site footer.
- Your browser: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
Opting out does not stop you from seeing ads. The ads you see will be less tailored to your interests.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share it with:
- Service providers who help us run the Site and our business, such as hosting, content-delivery, video, analytics and email providers, under obligations to protect it.
- Advertising partners, such as Google and LinkedIn, which receive information about your use of the Site through the technologies described above, and hashed contact lists as described above.
- Partners and vendors where needed to provide services you have requested.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- A successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
Some U.S. state laws, including California's, treat making information available to advertising partners for targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising as "sharing" or a "sale", even when no money changes hands. You can opt out as described below.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common standard for how to respond to it, the Site does not respond to Do Not Track signals. We do treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising on that browser, and we apply it automatically, even if you have chosen Allow in the cookie pop-up.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, such as responding to you and maintaining business records, and as required by law. How long depends on the type of information and why we hold it. Analytics and advertising cookies expire on their own schedules, typically within two years, and you can delete them at any time in your browser. Copies may remain in backups for a limited period.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and access it, to correct or delete it, to obtain a copy, to object to or restrict certain uses of it, to opt out of marketing, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising.
Analytics and advertising cookies are off unless you allow them. To opt out of sale or sharing after allowing them, choose Reject under "Cookie preferences" in the Site footer, or enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honor automatically. To make any other request, email hello@swingmedia.com with the subject "Privacy request" or call +1 323 936 3000. We will verify your request using the information you give us, and you may use an authorized agent. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the email. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
California residents
In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name, email address, IP address and cookie identifiers); professional information (such as company and job title); internet or other electronic network activity (such as pages viewed and ad interactions); and inferences drawn from that activity. We collect them from you, from your device and from advertising and social platforms, for the purposes described in this policy. We share identifiers and internet activity with advertising partners for targeted advertising, and disclose all of these categories to service providers for business purposes. We do not collect sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
We ask for your consent before using analytics and advertising cookies, and you can withdraw it at any time under "Cookie preferences" in the Site footer. We process personal information on the basis of your consent, our legitimate interests in running and promoting our business, or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries, under safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party links
The Site may link to third-party websites and social media. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please review their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date shows when it last changed. If we make material changes, we will post them here before they take effect.
